A connection can remain active and still respond slowly. You move a control in the app, but the device takes time to react; you change the intensity and the response arrives moments later. This is not always a product or app failure. It is usually a latency issue: the time an instruction takes to travel through the whole connection and return as a response.
App-based remote control involves several layers. ActiveJoy® uses Bluetooth to connect the nearby phone to a compatible device and, when control is shared over distance, the internet connects the two people. If one layer loses speed or stability, the experience can feel slow even though the session never fully disconnects.
What latency is and why it is not the same as a disconnection
Latency is a delay. The instruction arrives, but not immediately. A disconnection is different: communication stops and the system no longer responds until the link is restored.
This distinction matters because each problem requires a different diagnosis. If the device disappears from the app, check Bluetooth, permissions and pairing. If it remains connected but responds late, you need to identify where the delay is building up.

The route taken by a remote instruction
During a long-distance session, an action does not travel directly from one phone to the device. The usual route has four points:
- The controller's phone sends the instruction over the internet.
- The remote session transmits it to the phone beside the device.
- That second phone communicates it to the compatible product over Bluetooth.
- The device performs the selected function.
Delay can appear in any of these stages. This is why changing settings at random often wastes time. The most effective solution is to test each layer separately.
First test: check local control
Before investigating the internet, use ActiveJoy® in local mode from the phone beside the device. Try a few simple actions: start a function, change the intensity and stop it.
If the local response is also slow, the issue is close to the device. Check the battery level on both devices, physical distance, Bluetooth permissions, previous connections and apps running in the background.
If local control responds properly and the delay appears only when control is shared, Bluetooth is probably working and the investigation should move to the remote connection.
How to reduce latency step by step
1. Check both internet connections
The session depends on both phones. An excellent connection at one end cannot compensate for an unstable network at the other. Both people need to check their signal, not only the person who notices the delay.
Do not rely only on the coverage icon. A network can show a strong signal and still be congested. Run a simple browsing or video-call test and see whether that also responds slowly.
2. Choose stability over maximum speed
For real-time control, a consistent connection matters more than a high download figure. If Wi-Fi quality keeps changing, a stable mobile connection may work better. If mobile coverage is irregular, use a reliable Wi-Fi network.
Avoid switching repeatedly between Wi-Fi and mobile data during the session. Each transition can force the phone to reorganise the connection route.
3. Pause downloads and demanding tasks
Backups, updates, high-resolution video, online games and large downloads compete for the same connection. Temporarily close or pause anything unnecessary on both phones and on the home network.
You do not need to close every app obsessively. Start with services that are actively streaming or downloading content.
4. Review battery-saving settings
Low-power modes can restrict an app when the screen is locked or the user switches to another app. If the delay begins after a few minutes, review battery restrictions and allow ActiveJoy® to continue working during the session.

5. Reduce the distance between the nearby phone and the device
The remote part works over the internet, but the final stage still depends on Bluetooth. Keep the controlling phone close to the device, without unnecessary obstacles and with enough battery.
A session can appear slow because of the internet when the delay is actually occurring in this final local link.
6. Test without a VPN, proxy or intermediate hotspot
A VPN can add distance to the data route. A proxy, corporate network or shared hotspot can also introduce filters, congestion or additional routing. If you experience lag, run a brief test over a direct, trusted connection.
This does not mean that you must permanently stop using a privacy tool. The test simply reveals whether it is contributing to latency.
7. Do not share the connection code too early
Prepare the device first, confirm local control and create the remote room when both people are ready. This reduces waiting time and prevents an expired or incorrectly started session from being mistaken for a speed problem.

8. Restart in a clear order
If the delay continues, do not restart everything at once. Close the remote session, check local control again, restart the internet connection if necessary and create a new room. Testing in this order shows which action actually solved the problem.
A quick test to locate the cause
- Local mode is also delayed: check the device, battery, Bluetooth, permissions and physical distance.
- Local mode works but remote control is slow: check the internet on both phones, network congestion, VPN use and background tasks.
- The delay starts when the screen is locked: review battery-saving and background activity permissions.
- It happens only on one network: compare it with another stable connection to confirm whether the router, coverage or a network restriction is responsible.
- It happens constantly on every network: update the app and operating system, restart both phones and test again in a new session.
Privacy and a fast connection are not the same thing
ActiveJoy® can be used without creating a personal account. This removes access steps, but it does not remove the technical factors that affect real-time communication. Privacy depends on how data and access are handled; latency depends on the route and quality of the connection.

Checklist before you begin
- The device and phone have enough battery.
- Local control has been tested before opening the remote connection.
- The nearby phone is close to the device and Bluetooth is active.
- Both ends have a stable internet connection.
- Unnecessary downloads and streams are paused.
- Battery restrictions have been reviewed.
- The connection code is shared privately.
- A new room is created if a previous session responds slowly.
The best solution is to find the slow layer
Latency is not solved by changing every available setting. It is solved by separating the system into parts and checking each one: local control first, then the internet at both ends and finally the phone's restrictions.
This method avoids unnecessary changes and helps restore a more natural response. When the technology moves out of the foreground and the interaction feels immediate again, the connection is doing its real job.
